Situated near the cathedral, the Hôtel
de Berny museum is housed in the former Hôtel des Trésoriers
de France (direct tax collectors hall) of the Généralité
d'Amiens (former regional government), built in 1633 and bequeathed
to the City of Amiens by its last owner, Gérard de
Berny, in 1957.
The collections are of furniture and applied arts from the
Louis XV and Louis XVI periods, panelling, overmantels, overdoors
and chimneys, the most remarkable being the Salon du Zodiaque
and the Salon La Fayette.
In addition to the furniture, there is a collection of XVIIth
to XXth century objets dart (tapestries, fans, ceramics
and time-pieces).
