Saint-Jacques church in Folleville

The 15th and 16th century church is remarkable for its beautiful white marble recumbent statues and its choir from between the Gothic and Renaissance periods.

General introduction
Folleville church has a beautiful roof structure like the upturned hull of a ship.

A choir chapel, between Gothic and Renaissance, built in 1513 on the initiative of Jeanne de Poix on the death of her husband, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, extends the 15th century nave, which was the former Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur.

Some outstanding items of furniture are brought together in this double building: the simple pulpit of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, the white marble recumbent statues of Raoul de Lannoy and Jeanne de Poix, their son François and his wife, various statues, stained glass windows and a superb Carrara marble basin (1520).

History of the monument
It is the "Saint-Denis" chapel of the Lannoy family.

It was from the pulpit of this church that the private tutor of the Gondi family, lords of Folleville, the future Saint-Vincent de Paul, began his initiative to help the poor.
