EGLISE NOTRE-DAME DE LA NEUVILLE SOUS CORBIE

Classed as a Historic Monument

The principal interest of this church lies in a façade with images from the beginning of the 16th century.

Introduction
Its double doorway in Flamboyant style is topped with a bas-relief representing Christ’s entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. The picture is full of life with the crowd even climbing into the trees to welcome Christ.

Inside, behind the façade, notice a Tournai black stone baptismal trough, whose four sides are decorated with animal figures. Situated just above, a 16th century bas-relief represents the nativity.

Lower down, a Renaissance band is sculpted with children and animals. In one of the niches, on the right, is a fine figure of a compassionate Christ.

History of the monument
The bell tower was built at the end of the 15th century. The church, as a whole, was completed in the first half of the 16th century.
