Anzac

XVIIth century castle
A long, French-style avenue leads to the castle built in 1699, which has been wonderfully restored, in the middle of a 12 ha park, situated on a plateau overlooking the Selle Valley.

A harmonious and noble building, on a rectangular plane, consisting of a main building flanked by two wings, combining XVIIth and XVIIIth century styles.

Built in stone, it is famous for the height of its first floor, its windows and its skylight roofing. A large park surrounds it and on the other side of the gate, you can appreciate the old main avenue. In the XVIIIth century it was decorated inside by Jacques Rousseau from Amiens.

The castle belonged to General de Lamoricière, known as the African (who accepted the submission of Abd el Kader in 1847). He died there in 1865.
