Anzac

XVIIth century castle
The castle was built in brick and stone around 1680, using local stone. It comprises a main building with a projecting central fore-building, flanked by two wings constructed at right angles. This section is in brick and stone and has double pitch roofs. The two wings, which extend the original building, are lower and in stone, whereas the outbuildings, the coach shed and stables, were rebuilt respectively in 1834 and 1842. The elevation of the dwelling is three floors on a sandstone base with stone harp-shaped bonding except on the central fore-building where the clamps are rectilinear.

Access to the estate is through an avenue, lined with plane trees, ending in a XVIIIth century main gate. Stables and sheds are XIXth century. The octagonal dovecote is XVIIth century.
